University of Chile Law School Study Tour Program

The doors of the University of Chile Law School are open to foreign educational institutions interested in learning about the Chilean legal system and its culture in the context of the Latin-American region with the Study Tour Program. As the most prestigious university in Chile, it is a unique opportunity to acquire a perspective of Chilean law by hand of qualified professors with vast experience in academia, private practice and the most important public institutions in our country.

We offer flexible alternatives that accommodate to the needs or learning goals of foreign educational institutions. The Study Tour involves an attractive syllabus of classes –of different fields of interests– combined with site and cultural visits. International students will have activities with students from our Law School to foster integration between our communities.

The Study Tour entitles the visiting delegation to use all dependencies and resources available at the University of Chile Law School.

Classroom Lectures

The study tour includes one orientation class, to be taught at a complimentary breakfast, and the number of classes that the applicant university requires, with a minimum required of eight. Classes are taught in English and aim to introduce foreign students to the most relevant and contingent topics in Chilean and Latin-American legal systems.

Spanish Orientation

We offer a workshop on Spanish language in order to provide basic tools for effective communication and interaction with the local community, while they are visiting us, so students can exploit to the maximum their experience in Chile and continue pursuing their interest in Latin American culture. Each class has a duration of 60 minutes and it is up to the visiting institution to decide on the number of hours they want to register, with a minimum required of four.

Site Visits to Legal and Judicial Institutions

The Study Tour offers site visits to institutions from the three branches of government and to Private Law firms to enhance the classroom curriculum with firsthand experience. Students will have the opportunity to dialogue with public authorities and renowned lawyers and approach the Chilean professional field. The site visits might include the Presidential Palace, the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, specialized courts such as the Environmental, Criminal or Antitrust courts, Parliament Palace at Valparaiso City and private law firms.
