Andrés Bello Classroom

Special mention should be made of the Andrés Bello Classroom, remodeled in the period 2017 - 2018, the first intervention with the authorization of the National Monuments Council, following the declaration of July 2, 2014, by which the Ministry of Education declares the building in the category of Historical Monument (Ministerial Decree number 289, of the Ministry of Education).

This is the first work of Juan Martínez to have this recognition, which according to the text of the decree constitutes an "... emblematic building that articulates and gives historical meaning to the environment...". The values recognized in the decree are two: social-historical and architectural (Gastelo, p. 122). That is why, in order to execute the remodeling of the Andrés Bello Classroom, in 2017 the Faculty requested authorization from the National Monuments Council. As the project indicates, "the remodeling includes the recovery of the existing parquet floor, doors and handrails, new electrical installations, air conditioning, thermopanel windows, wooden armchairs and the latest technology audiovisual equipment." The Andrés Bello hall was inaugurated in 2018 and its remodeling was funded by alumni.
