Santa Maria building

The Marcial Martínez Library is located in this building. It was founded in 1938, when the existing collection of the Law School was moved from the Central House of the University of Chile. In 1995 the bibliographic services were reorganized and modernized, with more than 15,000 volumes and specialized collections in history and philosophy of law, mainly consulted for postgraduate research, also housing the theses of its students. Its name commemorates Marcial Martínez Cuadros, an outstanding lawyer and jurist of the 19th and 20th centuries.  It has the collections of professors Máximo Pacheco, Benjamín Cid, Alamiro de Ávila and Marcial Martínez.
