Andrés Bello Memorial

The work, created by sculptor Mauricio Guajardo, consists of two basalt stone blocks measuring 1.5 meters high by 1.7 meters wide, with a depth of 40 centimeters, and weighing 2,850 tons.

Each block is engraved on one side with a text from Andrés Bello’s inaugural address, delivered during the founding of the University of Chile in September 1843; and on the other side, with Bello’s profile.
